Hey Bob, It's damn good to see you back running the show. We've only crossed paths a couple times over the years, so I expect that I may be a new face to you. Anyway, I have a suggestion for policy change that I think would be of great benefit to the entire SI community; however I don't know how practical it is. It also may be based in faulty premises on my part or incomplete understanding. Anyway, it is my understanding that in the past SI revealed the identities of it members to any company complaining about postings made by SI's members without question. If that has been indeed the case, I think that SI should change its policy to protect its member's identities more and follow AOL's example in not releasing members identities unless the complainant presents a court order. I think this would be a positive policy for SI because it should be in SI's foremost interest to protect its community, and thus its only real asset. This obstacle is surmountable by companies with legitimate grievances--a court of law would be the judge--and should act as a deterrent against frivolous lawsuits and in specific that anti-democratic strategic lawsuits against public participation (SLAPP) that have have been a pox upon the community of investors bulletin board posters and a potential threat hanging over anyone posting negative assertions about any company. For instance, the lawsuit by Hitsgalore against SI posters should never have been allowed to proceed so easily. (Also, there was a steep drop-off in SI usage as a result of the lawsuit, which was bad for business.) Puck
