You are correct, mad cow is caused by prions, last I read. Prions are virtually indestructible.
However, there is a huge problem with the meat industry's cleanliness (have seen reports of over 30% contamination). Sure technology kills ecoli, salmonella, and listeria, as well as other bacteria and insects.
Apparently it can prolong the shelf life of fruit, too.
Maybe they could ship some decent ripe fruit for a change.
