They generated $2.5B in cash and showed a profit of 22 cents with GAAP accounting which is what many use these days. I don't see how the jiggering you speak of would effect these facts.

Fact they are smaller than when they were seperate is no big issue as Compaq was a failing company the way I see it and they had to be acquired or go the way of Sun and Gateway. HP, had it stuck it out, might have jettisoned the PC business and concentrated on printers to BETTER compete with Lexmark which gets vauled much better than HPQ. Short term, HP stockholders suffer but the objective is to build something that can compete with IBM and Dell and it seems to me Carly is succeeding. Remember I voted against her (the merger) as I thought she mishandled the BOD ala Walter but I'll give her credit for doing well in a tough environment.
