Even were that true, it does not speak to WHAT is a negative consequence or a positive result. It does not speak to how we evaluate what is good or not good.

My point to Tim was that ALL future consequences are equally "good" and "bad" over time. Just as at the blackjack table....someone pulls a card and "helps" the table. Six hands later it allows the dealer to pull a 21 on 5 cards and takes all the money. "GOOD" must be defined in a personal way based on whether an action helps or hurts in a seeable and direct time frame. There is no mystical good and bad. There is only hugs and kisses--or being mean...

The end justifies the means.

Are you asserting that as a general rule or only for a specific situation? More generally what are you getting at?

For a positive result to exist there needs to be a negative consequence

???

i.e. good needs evil.

Do you mean that you need evil to contrast against good to know what good is?
