KastelCo,

I've noticed, on more than just a few stocks, that the price of the stock declines approximately by the same amount of the dividend (per share), once the dividend is granted. It makes sense to me as to why this happens, but what I find strange is that, usually, within a week or less, the stock price recovers to where it was before the dividend was paid... Why bother??? <g>

As I typically buy-and-hold, trading stocks to acquire the dividend is of little interest to me. I suppose that there are smart people out there that know just when to buy in, get the dividend, and then exit with a quick profit. I'm either too lazy or just not smart enough to do it myself... <g>
