Sam,
Yours is the opposition view and well stated. I dont buy your basic premise that because one is a conservative one can't have compassion for the poor(or for iraqis). What you are saying is that only liberal solutions apply and only liberal politicians care. That is wrong headed imo. I would never make that claim about all liberals, although Bill might<g>. mike

But the Bush admin doesn't even have the real will to make things better in places like Watts--why should they have the will to make better things happen in Iraq?

Have you ever been to Watts? I spent years selling people in Watts. If you took that average Iraqi and dropped him off on the corner of 104th and S. Central in LA, he would think he died and went to heaven. Two cars per household, cable TV with HBO, people getting so much food that most of them are overweight. An Iraqi would consider the average home in Watts a palace compared to what he has in Iraq.

America is a nation of palaces with an occasional hut. The third world is are nations of huts with an occasional palace.

The problems in Watts are hoodlum gangs that live at home with their folks, while they steal; and kill each other for territory. They have been "empowered" by people like Maxine Waters, one of those "Caring" politicians you like so much.

Fortunately, LA now has a Chief of Police, Bill Bratton, who knows how to go after and put away these bums.
