I almost responded with "What's so bad about Watts?" but figured it had been some years since I had been there and maybe it had changed. Now Compton, that's another story.

Have you ever been to Watts ?

I remember my mom expressing astonishment when she actually had occasion to see Watts, expecting the worst of the New York inner city ghetto she was familiar with from all the news reports. It wasn't anything like that at all. This was not so long after the area was in the news, so it's not like there was sudden gentrification either. While I'm amazed at the difference in some areas of NYC where gentrification has taken place and don't think it's a good thing when law abiding residents in areas that undergo such changes get driven out by rising prices, that's another topic, and doesn't apply to Watts.
