Early in the life of this thread, FL suggested we not post on the Palestinian Israeli conflict. Once again I see the wisdom of that. Some views are just so dug in, it's not worth it.

Your notion as to why the Palestinians are attacking Israelis is, apparently, twofold: strange ideology which promotes suicide bombing and a wish to drive the Israelis into the sea. Both simply ignore the most important reason of all, the one which could be negotiated, which is the Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza. And the Palestinians desire for a territory of their own.

I would expect any fair assessment of the state of Palestinian life, at the moment, as that there are a host of motives, some those you mention. But you've taken the motives which justify Israeli occupation and given them primacy. That does have the benefit of making the Israeli occupation seem justified but it cannot be called a fair analysis.

You seem to have the notion that to say anything that differs from the Israeli propaganda line du jour is a heinous offense. A peopleless land for a landless people, a 2000 year old birthright, and any other garbage that can possibly be used to present a 36 year occupation as something else entirely. "Greater Israel" now contains about an equal number of Jews and not, if you want to lecture on "democracy", you're going to have to find a way around that one. I'm sure you're up to the task, though.

"Transfer" seems to be floating around in the news again, or do the Israel propagandists have a more benign official terminology for it, in the style that "occupied territories" can't be called that, and you can't give he-who-must-not-be-named any credit for policy influence without being "anti-semitic"?
