When cops are at the door, dopers try to make their stash disappear quickly.

I think everyone in Iraq knew war was coming for months ahead. And no one doubted the outcome. If I were in the shoes of an Iraqi officer with control of outlawed WMD's or a scientist working on such, I would certainly make sure any WMD's under my authority disappeared before the Marines or 3rd Infantry showed up. Defeat was inevitable for these folks. Avoiding war crimes trials after the defeat was not out of the question for most though.

<<If he had used WMD's as his reason, it would have made not the slightest difference to me whether any were found afterwards or not.>>

If being lied to by the people YOU vote to serve YOU is acceptable, what more can I say?!?

<<What your post reveals is that you think that for supporters of this war, Saddam Hussein was not the real issue, Bush was.>>

No, my post stated that the reasons we were given for an invasion of Iraq have so far turned out not to be valid. If I was a supporter of this war I think I'd be a little pissed at this point! I completely supported our action in Afghanistan as it was "justified". When I started researching the reasons why Iraq was next and discovered the existence of groups like the PNAC, red flags were raised for me and it certainly looks like my concerns are indeed valid.

<<Had it actually been Clinton who went in and did this, no doubt the real issue for you would still not actually have been Saddam Hussein, it would have been Clinton, what this would do for Clinton, how the Democrats could benefit from doing this.>>

I guess you're assuming that I'm a Democrat and Clinton supporter.....WRONG!! I try not to get caught up in the bipolar world of Dem versus Republican because to do that means your objectivity becomes compromised......reference the point in question! I'm not an American citizen yet but I would have voted for GW in 2000...hard to believe, eh! I will be a citizen in 2004 and guess who I won't be voting for??? I'll just have to settle for the best of the rest :-)

Isn't Democracy simply marvelous......
