Ahhh I see, so it's really Tony Blair and the UN's fault for the administration submitting false evidence, buying the support of "New Europe" and alienating us from our long time allies. Silly me!!

No, that was the reason WMDs got elevated to the main argument, instead of remaining a side argument. Nor do I believe that it was a false argument; some of our intelligence may turn out to be mistaken, but it was believed. And for good cause. Saddam gave up something like 200 billion dollars in lost oil revenues by refusing to comply with the UN resolutions on WMDs and kicking out the inspectors in 1998; do you expect me to believe he did this for no reason? We will find out what happened to the stuff. I believe that some of it was hidden and some of it was destroyed by generals. We'll find out.

As for WMDs being the reason we "alienated ourselves" from our "longstanding allies", well it takes two to tango, and if you think M. Chirac acted as he did for the reason of WMDs, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you. Ever look at TotalFinaElf's Iraqi contracts? Worthless paper now, I'm glad to report.
