Let me offer you a few links to a very successful set of public schools in NYC, Central Park East. They were started in Harlem in the middle 70s by Deborah Meier, a longtime progressive Deweyite. They've now grown into almost a counter system.

And when they are- it's powerful- but listening isn't something you can rush, and if I had 160 kids instead of 80, it would be much more difficult (perhaps impossible) to do what I do.

You have 80 kids in your classroom? What subject and grade level?
