Steve,
I believe that REITs are excluded and will be taxed normally.

I am curious about the preferreds.

By the way, I have sold almost all of my non core positions in Reits as I think they are ready to pull back 5-10% or more. As usual, I may be way off in my market timing.

My understanding is NO.....for the reason you stated.....looks like utilities will be a good bet though.
