NC,
You have described my change from lib to neocon almost exactly. Actually you will laugh at this but i think the first neocon would have been Bobby Kennedy who to me was the Larry Brown of politics--constantly evolving and changing teams. I worked for Bobby in 1968 as i did for Eugene McCarthy pre-bobby. McCarthy was an intellectual much like our own John M, McGovernites were like Jacob in never finding an American policy they liked.
Bobby was of a different stripe altogether. He was compassionate, intellectually gifted but if nothing else a realist. Neocons today include JFK in their ranks because of the tax cut which is really a bogus issue. RFK as President today(imo) would have followed policies much like Bush and he would have had the working class folks with him as well, much like reagan but unlike bush so far.
I know i have strayed but my affection for RFK runs deep and i wonder if you see any of this as believable or have I deified my hero much as JFK is by the pop culture? mike

Anyone notice that Arafat started causing problems again within the PA immediately after the visit of the French Foreign minister? One day arafat will be expelled by the israelis and it will probably be at the urging of arab leaders including Abbas. And of course as always the French help stir the pot in the wrong direction. Mike

Most interesting. Last Friday heard a most interesting interview on wnyc perhaps it was b Lehrer and apart time contributor to the Globe (Boston Globe) Re Wolfowitz"s thinking Platonic Philosophy. Along lines you describe I wish I could get a transcript, speaks about Strauss Philosopher at U. of Chicago. All this is more your meat than mine but goes into very full explanation as to what you are saying Thanks Jaunatxo
