Hey haqi! - how are ya? Haven't 'seen' you for a long time.

Yep, it seems freedoms are a little more eroded each year. But they never do anything real drastic, so the public goes along. There have been a lot of subtle cues telling the public they are under the thumb of the state. Even something as innocuous as seat belt laws pushes us into subservience. Then there is that show called Cops, in which they pretty much shred the constitution every episode. The public says that's OK!

I'm not sure if the Libertarian Party takes itself that seriously anymore. They were fun and interesting early on, but the past 3 or 4 presidential election cycles have been a joke. There was widespread flaunting of party rules and by-laws (and maybe even real laws) in the last election, so who knows what the future holds for them.

But there are serious libertarian institutions and magazines worth paying attention to, so the philosophy carries on. The Republican Party has adopted a few of their ideas, like privatization in education.
