So now you telling me that you've just discovered that politician don't always tell the whole truth. We got an endless list of items from the past here: Gulf of Tonkin. Watergate. Iran Contra. Lying under Oath. These issues only matter if the average American believe that their President is a crook. In only one case did any of the above cause the President to be removed. etc... It will come down to who does the average Joe-Six Pack want to see leading the USA and the free world: George W. Bush or Joesph Leiberman It will be a no-brainer.

And the consent is not informed, if we never got told the real reasons for going to war, and if the (endlessly repeated) publicized reasons were not the real reasons. The reasons Bush gave for invading Iraq and specifically, over throwing its regime, were many. For instance, he spoke often about the cruel, murderous, tyrannical nature of the regime. He had a million good reasons there. He spoke of the Iraq violations of the Gulf War truce which the US had to administer and enforce. He spoke of its support of terrorism. He spoke of its WMD record. The incredibly evil nature of the regime, and its unallowable presence in the area giving the modern world so many problems were good enough for Bush, and I expect, the American and Iraqi peoples. I argued over a year ago that the weakest reason for overthrowing the regime was the WMDs but the only thing "serious" people wanted to talk about was the least serious issue: WMDs. The most serious issue, the nature of the regime, was not on their radar screens but it certainly was on Bush's, and he spoke of it often.
