I used to check the online FT almost every day, haven't been back much since you left.

That's because the quality of coverage for some obscure reason declined when Jesse left. <g>

They should just give up and make the abstracts publicly available on their website a day or two before the conference. They can still say the abstracts are embargoed if they want to try to keep any "scoops" from happening before the conference, but at least there would be a level playing field.

It's not like the doctors are going to refuse to come to the conference because the abstracts are available earlier. In any event, the abstracts are often out of date, and the "live" updates on the day of the actual presentations would still be newsworthy.
