Isn't it an item of faith among conservatives that government is never to be trusted?

Only when the Dems are in power. It's not even ideology.

H.L. Menckin once said, "when visited by a Politician, hide your daughters and count the silverware." Our Government is the most transparent of any I know. I would trust it over any international body I can think of.

Civil Servants think their first job is to lie to the public. That is why you have to "throw the rascals out" every so often. I think the Hawaii Government is the most corrupt I have run into. Why? One party has controlled for 40 years.

The worst recent example of an NGO lying was this report:

"The U.S.-led war on terror has made the world a more dangerous and repressive place, Amnesty International said Wednesday"
