Ray, we know that Shrub and President Cheney both made their millions at the expense of taxpayer money, so one must puzzle over why they are now insisting that paying taxes is such a horrible thing to do. Even more puzzling is that Shrub pounded the table on needing a federal tax reduction SO that people could go find a job and go back to work. And even the "wingers" here on SI can't deny this is what he has stated as the reason for the tax cut...JOBS! And on top of this the "wingers" can merely yell and shout that anyone that questions Shrub is Unamerican and a idiot. So lets take a moment and look at the TRUTH on this issue. And this Truth comes from the US Treasury Department, US Labor Department and reported in next week's BusinessWeek magazine (a magazine that is the bastion of Republican agenda reporting). Lets take a look at the past two decades and the federal tax increases and the federal tax cuts implemented by Congress: (First number being Federal Revenue Change in Billions and Second number is ONE-Year Job Change in Millions) Revenue Act of 1978.....-11.5 and +2.8 Economic "RECOVERY" Tax Act of 1981....-38.3 and -2.1 Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993..+24.3 and +3.7 Tax Reform Reconciliation Act of 2001..-73.8 and -1.4 Job Creation/Worker Assistance Act of 2002..-51.2 and -0.3 Geez! Did BusinessWeek report this correctly? Smallest tax increase gives us 2.8Million more jobs. Largest two tax increases takes away 1.7 million job and growing as I write this. And then(let me rub my eyes and clear up this haze)...the only tax increase in the past twenty years gives us a job increase of....Three million seven hundred thousand.....that is 3.7 million people actually working and not standing in a unemployment line. Shrub has given tax cuts that exceed the meager tax increase of Clinton by 5 times...but has given us 2.0 million United States of American people in the unemployment line. Now help me out...Who was President in 1978 and in 1993? And to think...we are called the "idiots" for pointing out that Bush is a poor student of history...and his minions laugh at it when he brags about being a stupid student. And now he lies to them about invading Iraq for WMDs and they laugh....but the unemployment lines gets longer and longer. Now we know why...he has his millions and is laughing at these dorks...all the way to the interest/dividend collection line.
