Actually, I don't think Bob said that search took up too much bandwidth.

He did say that it is one of the more CPU-intense (not the same as bandwidth) things that people do on SI, and I believe (Bob?) that he said it was one of the features he was considering for a premium service.

He also admitted that using his proposed replacement (SQL Server's built-in text indexing) it would take several days to do a full rebuild, and there may be circumstances that would require a periodic rebuild.

I thin' Bob needs to do more thinnin' about this.

SI was great as it was.

Despite your pretense of being an expert on all things related to me or SI, you're a relative newcomer to the site. SI was at its peak and had started sliding long before you arrived.

Bob said search took up too much bandwidth.

No, I didn't.

I don't think it was too cool to mess up people's si email without giving them notice.

As stated before, SI Email went down temporarily because of an error on our part. I believe it came back up on Friday.
