Correction, it was the state of play among the Palestinians ten years ago. By definition the state doesn't remain forever.

The past also shows that Arab revolts tend to last about three years. It's been two and a half years for this one.

The Algerian metaphor is entirely unhelpful. Not only are the players on both sides quite different, but - here's the crucial point - the world doesn't care about the Algerian conflict, and lets both sides alone. Nothing could be further from the case in the Israeli/Pal conflict. Everybody meddles in that one.
