We have no disagreement on the preferability of free markets. My only reason for bringing it up was to point to the complexity of empirical data. Obviously, for whatever reason, social democracy did not harm Sweden, or Western Europe in general, for quite some time, though there is long term evidence that its Welfare States have finally gone to far, and are causing economic problems.
