Ethnicity and nationality are frequently two different things. Re. the Plymouth Brethren, they never engaged in any military operations against anybody, though they weren't pacifists and were prepared to in theory. And they were themselves overrun by the expanding Massachusetts Colony. Missionaries have frequently been the best spokesmen for colonized peoples. Not all, of course, but very many. Who is to say that these people are not capable of managing their own affairs and developing a life for themselves? Not even sure who or what you're referring to here.
