So then, tell me what is the dividing line between Rudolph, who was against abortions, gov't in general and gays, and hard line conservatives? Conservatives are not against government and most of them are not against gays. The only difference I see is that hard line conservatives don't advocate violence to get what they want. That's not an "only", that's a world of difference. Also you still haven't show how this is relevant to your application of "when there is smoke there is usually fire" to Democrat's claim about Republicans, while considering the Republicans claims about Democrats to be a sign of something wrong with the Republicans instead of the Democrats.
