However, the real story behind mail is that mail costs are practically zero today. I don't know about you, but all my bills are either automatically deducted or paid online at a mail cost of essentially zero. And all my 'letters' (many more than I used to write years ago before Inet) are also sent at zero cost.

It was always a nickle when I was a kid. Hamburger 19c and 99c a sixpak for local swill [or Meisterbrau of course]... cheaper than coke.
