Bush went to war to rid the world of Saddam because the UN, with french and Russian economic interests, failed to act appropriately. Obviously, the war was bad news for the economy and for the stock market. Bush, IMO, was misled by Cheney into believing the WMD position. The NY Post just reported that Cheney put pressure on the CIA to get their intelligence reports to conform to Cheney's politics.

That Cheney misled Bush is an indictment of both of them, not an excuse for Bush.

However, given the increasing number of graves and bodies that have been discovered, it is apparent that there was a weapon of mass destruction in Iraq. That weapon of mass destruction was Saddam Hussein, and he's been stopped.
