Reference the news item below as a possibility that the only change in the move was hardware being disconnected and reconnected, along with any new hardware points you made using different connectors etc. The article outlines that hic-ups in data being tansfered due to things like "noisy" lines etc can cause the transfer rates to vary from normal to 1/2 to 1/4 to ...... ouch. . While software bugs are reproducible if the same code path is taken, any flakey hardware stuff like bad connections can vary with conditions such as heat etc and can vary the degree and amount and duration of it causing the hic-ups mentioned below in the article. I have a pet turtle who uses a 14.4 modem to connect to his favorite message board and he's been getting faster throughput than I get on SI. <vbg> Any idea how much longer it might take to iron out these problems? BTW, the turtle told me he just sold all of his Biotech and Chip stocks. He's starting to average into a net short position. For an amphibian he's become mighty bearish looking.
