I do find it richly ironic that, after reading all the screaming about "The Palestinians want to eradicate Israel! They want the whole country!" the Israeli solution is to throw the Palestinians out of the West Bank and Gaza.

On Free Republic, I asked what is the alternative to the "road map." So far, the replies I have received (five) (now six) consist of throwing the Palestinians out of the West Bank and Gaza.

It's not going to happen. If there is no solution, eventually Israel may finish its wall, withdraw behind it, and remain at war with the terrorist statelet on the West Bank and Gaza. The big loser from this arrangement would be Jordan, which does not have good defenses.

I think that the situations will remain unsolved until Israel has a war with Hamas et al, and Yasser Arafat dies. Then we will see what leadership comes up, since the Palestinians seem unable to free themselves from autocracy. I think we need regime change for the Palestinians, then maybe we could find two sides who wanted peace.
