Predicting the upturn in markets must take into account many variables(industry specific, end user demand in national and world economies etc); this is difficult for even the smartest of people.

Forecasters' predictions are notoriously wrong at the "turns." They are much better at predicting trends that are in place. Changes are brought about by factors that are unpredictable in nature and are themselves, er, unpredictable.
