There is nothing wrong with admitting you have been wrong. You have been wrong on any number of things you've written does that mean it puts everything you've ever written into doubt?

What Friedman admits is that you can't dial in some prescription for money and expect to get a predetermined result. He knew this earlier but made concessions to expediency. The urge to try to engineer prosperity is strong, the urge to "do something" when people are suffering is a basic human urge. The most strident non-interventionist winds up giving in to this pressure.
