Our terror problem in this country is due to one thing, and one thing only, and that is our alliance with Israel.

Hmm... I thought it was because US forces were located in Saudi Arabia because the region wanted us to contain Saddam (Why else would the Saudi royal family have endured their presence?)?

At least that's what Bin Laden said initially.. He really didn't discuss the Israel-Palestinian conflict until AFTER 9/11...

So obviously you're making something up here to fit your own anti-Israeli bias.

Myself? My only concern with the Israelis is that we defend a democracy. Were Israel non-democratic, I wouldn't feel nearly the compulsion to support them.

The Israelis were, and are, entirely capable of making peace with their former enemies. They did it with Egypt, returning to them a sizable piece of geography from when Egypt had attacked them on 3 different occasions (and often almost continuously via guerilla groups).

Israel offered peace to Jordan, and I believe return of the West Bank, in exchange for security guarantees.. But King Hussein didn't bother to make peace until 1994, AFTER he abandoned the West Bank, knowing he didn't want to inherit Arafat's intifada..

It has been the NON-DEMOCRATIC ARAB REGIMES which have continuously delayed and refused to make peace with Israel.

And it has been non-democratic Arab regimes which have perpetuated, supported, trained, and paid for Arafat's guerilla in order to fight a war against Israel by proxy.

What hope for democracy will there be in the Middle East if the US is seen to be abadoning the only democratic state in the region?

Now, I don't know whether you just hate Jews, or merely approve of fascism and totalitarianism(or both), Bilow.

But when the US is seen to stop being willing to support democratic governments, that will be the day that I'm truly ashamed to be an American.

And I could care less whether they are Jews or Arabs.
