JT what were fridays numbers? I would really like to see them and can make a valid observation back if it shows what I think. Last time I looked 88% of Money fund assets were short, that was dow from 112% of money fund assts. At those numbers the shorts are over exposed realtive to cash and cover in a rising market. This ratio needs to be around 50% for any short to look like it has a chance.Otherwise the shorts are the herd and the herd is being directed towards a cliff. Remember that a short has distinct issues relative to price. While the entry cost is low, the purchase price is not guaranteed ( Stock Outs= no sellers) and the capital needed to cover is not predictable in a rising market. Buying power measured in minutes can work in reverse of the shorts available capital to cover a position in total or part.
