France's and Chirac's (including Chirac's family and relations) have been buddying up to Saddam since before 1973. The U.S. helped Iraq in the 80s when it suited its geopolitical aims, as opposed to France, whose interest in propping up the Iraqi peoples oppressor has been largely financial.

What's wrong with some of you people with your ceaseless whining about WMDs. Iraqi people have a world of opportunity unfolding before them, that's what counts now. Hey, if the WMDs turns out to be a crock, the Bushies likely won't be around after the next election.
