>>This "roadmap" is forcing Israel to negotiate under terror, a major loss. Only George Bush could have done this. I hope he's pleased with the inevitable results.<<

Come on, Nadine, what did you expect? That Dubya would just stand around waiting for the terrorism to end? That's been tried and it didn't work.

Plan B may not work but we know for a fact that Plan A won't.

I might add that the Israeli settlers themselves did their part to ensure that Plan A could not possibly work.

If the Israelis had exercised good faith in stopping the settlements, that would have been a different matter. Then at least one side would have the moral high ground.

I would be surprised if you agreed to this, but I think the vast majority of uninvolved outsiders do agree with this.

The argument that the Palestinians must accept Jews in the West Bank and Gaza is specious, IMO. There is a vast difference between voluntary acceptance and military imposition of a fait accompli.

There is no trust on either side, and rightly so. You keep talking about the Palestinian maps that show the entire country as Palestinian but mysteriously never mention the Israeli maps that show the entire country as Israeli.

Unfortunately, the Palestinians think that killing civilians is a good thing. If they would limit themselves to hitting military targets . . . . they'd have a lot more sympathy, and a decent shot at having their own moral high ground.

Everybody but the Jews and the Palestinians are sick up to here with the "nits grow up to be lice" argument. Nobody is sick enough to make it on FADG, but I've read it from enough Israelis and their supporters on Free Republic to know that it's not just an argument that Palestinians make.

Only time will tell.

If we don't see any terrorism for a substantial amount of time---say, the rest of the Summer--I'll believe that perhaps Cohen has a point. The next blast will return me to my usual cynical attitude.
