Was sagen Sie? Ich können Sie nicht verstehen.
Or would you prefer that in Spanish?

Oooh, so many languages! Are you sure your "national origins" are not "irrelevant" now, after you have learned these languages? :-)

>>>Of course immigrants are expected to understand the language of the country they now choose to live in. What is so strange about THAT?<<<
Beats me.

Let me get this straight. You posted this:

... where the author is obviously horrified that France expects immigrants to learn French. It looks very much like you agree with the guy. I ask "What is strange about that?", and you say "Beats me"???

What is wrong with you, Lazarus? Split personality? Amnesia? Lack of a stable sense of self?

Maybe you will be so kind as to ask that question of the many thousands of persons of Hispanic origins along the US-Mexico border who were born here but never learn English. Of course, their parents don't speak it either

That is their problem and the problem of the US. Again, you are suffering from the delusion that whatever you see in your country is right and should universally be adopted. In this case, it is certainly not so. Inhabitants of a country should at least be able to understand each other, not to mention the emergency announcements, signs on the roads, etc. If your Mexican immigrants don't, I am not going to praise them for it.

>>>And pray tell how learning a language makes "national origins irrelevant by the second generation"??? <<<
Taht you will have to take up with the French. Apparently they believe otherwise.

They don't. It's only the dolt you have quoted who seems to think so.

I moved here some years ago. Nobody asked me to learn French. I know people who moved to Nice, Cannes, and Menton. Nobody asked them to learn French, either. But we did.

And I am not even going into your assertion that France wants immigrants to learn about French culture. It is a comment so removed from reality that I am not even going to go there.

Basically, Lazarus, you are clutching at straws to attack the French, because they wouldn't support your lying administration in their war of aggression.

Grow up. Get over it. Not everybody will obey your country.

Which were picked up in Africa by your European ancestors and brought to these shores in European ships.

I don't have a single European ancestor, as far as I am aware.

Kinda reminds of a little discussion I had with a Swiss kid who was knocking the US about the Vietnam War. I was so unkind as to point out his nation was selling bullets to the Nazis right up until about 5 minutes before the surrender.

And you seem to think that made it alright. You need a course in logical fallacies.
