I don't know why Davis doesn't go through with the recall. The likely replacement is just a stronger dem like Dianne Feinstein. The republicans that are funding the recall like Issa are far right Christians again. I heard on the radio a few days ago, the state democratic office was interviewed about whether they considered Issa a threat. They said they would just focus on his pro-life stance.

Toricelli provided the template. If the recall is a certainty I think that Davis will resign rather than risk turning the office over to a Republican.

Feinstein will run only if she has Davis' blessing. In order for that to happen, Davis would have to stay in office and let the recall proceed. Very humiliating. Hard to imagine him doing that.
