>>Mexico has 'outsourced' employment, health, criminal justice, and education for a large number of its' citizens<<

This is generic... But see it this way: those poor b*ds who make it - let's say from Kurdistan or from Afganistan or from China or from Mexico - to the promised land, are already a selection of tough, cunning?, ready-to-risk kind. Those remaining back home still need >employment, health, criminal justice, and education< but, for instance, "hell, my gynecologist is away for good, I understand he's now in Munich driving a cab"

Not so long ago bands of anglos with guns were 'outsourcing' their agriculture and gold mining on the same lands, when it belonged to others .... no atravesamos la frontera, la frontera nos atravesó, we say - 'we didn't cross the border, the border crossed us' .... so it goes

Yesterday i typed this - #reply-19052825 .... [and missed two languages present, haida and vietnamese] ... there is more to the story of these people, of course, quite a lot that demonstrates DJ's point, that immigrants are self-selected for vigour and enterprise ....... the mexicano i am coming to know well, very much impressed by his drive and intelligence, we are probably going to combine with them a few of my nickels and see what comes of the resulting business ...... he is a full-blooded indio almost certainly, about six years of formal schooling, neither parent ever learned to read, no one else in the village ever did before ten years ago .... he spent three years in the US working, went home and tried to go to school, couldn't get in to the one he wanted but met a canadian india in the process, married her and got into this country that way .... of the seventy or so people at that baptism, from all over the planet, this is a fairly average story

There is so much preoccupation with nation-states, yesterday on lurking that foreign affairs thread i was struck by the degree that this distracts from what should be the main concern - the rights of people wherever they are .... California's got the money, really it's not so much money, and they did take the land, after all ... it is a warm and gentle Reconquista, amigo, you won't feel a thing out of line and you'll eat better .... one day you will have an hispano as presidente, and you won't mind ... well, only half of you will mind, and on a partisan basis at that -g- .... no, you might get first an hispana as your first presidenta, this could happen, just thank your gods that because she is north of the 49th it won't be my wife [i sure will-g-]

Mexicans are taking back their land with the goodies on it :-)

If I were a Mexican in Calif. I would fund an association of the wet backs. Gather together and tell them:

We are going to make our case heard. We will go on strike and we want to see if the US blink and send us home. Nannies wont show up. Swimmingpools start getting dirty, security guards won't show up for work and the prices of fruits and vegetables and other goods handled by the Mexicans will skyrocket.

That because the benefits the Californians get from these immigrants are not apparent and the general view is that they just take and not give anything.

The Mexicans just need to organize themselves.
