"...makes me think of people watching a poker match"

Some prefer not to play in fixed games that, more oft than not, only benefit "the house". However, given that knowledge, it makes watching all the more entertaining.

it is the views of those with an interest in the outcome of said opinions that are most compelling.

Sure. But what if someone had, say, a few million bucks invested? This person has a choice: invest in QCOM or invest elsewhere. So what if this person chooses not to invest any of their capital in QCOM?

Are you suggesting they don't have a few million bucks riding behind that decision? Is their opinion of no value to you?

The spectators in this game are those who have no capital in the market. The rest of us are players at the table.

What we have here are two folks looking at the same poker hand. One chooses to draw, the other chooses to stand. Both have vested interests in the outcome.

If you think about it for a while.

John

<<It sort of makes me think of people watching a poker match on television>>

Very good analogy. Begs the question of why some would spend so much time and effort second guessing the players in a game they apparently do not have enough guts to play themselves. At least professional poker players do not have to listen to some idiot on TV saying "You should have drawn to the inside straight!"

I recently ranted about what motivates these people here:
