You agree with Rumsfeld then (see post above).

I disagree. I think we need a major peace offensive in Iraq, primarily massive amounts of immediate monetary aid to prevent losing the battle for hearts and minds and undoing the damage we have done so far by being thoroughly unprepared for the aftermath to the cakewalk. We also need to increase substantially US and other forces and aid people, and engage the UN and other international organizations in the effort, perhaps even shedding control (and responsibility) to them.

I think that if we don't take these steps very soon, this Iraq war will mark the beginning of the Decline and Fall of the American Empire -- in Internet time.
