In many cases, the recipients are unaware of and/or completely indifferent to the criticism. That's the imaginary fallacy of Internet chat boards, that blathering something here against a person or group while hiding behind a pseudonym has some great meaning beyond a few K bytes of space on a Web site.

If I see an insult hurled, I will check what is said against what I know, and may look further to see if it's true. But most of the time it's just the poster venting their spleen to satisfy their own urges.

Which tells me much, much more about the insult maker than the recipient.

Fact is, most of the people and groups insulted on this board (not the posters but the subject matter) don't know and don't care about the rantings here. Why should they? They aren't going to put themselves on the poster's level and start playing "let's toss mud around so we can feel cool."

That's one definition of "uselessness" - irrelevant anonymous junk.

Personally I sometimes enjoy a race to the lowest common denominator.

Who knows what one might find there, maybe a real neocon, frmr libertarian,
much frustrated and who knows what. However, maybe one day something
more interesting than one more who was left behind the wagon around early 1700s.
