I would have gone out if not for the friends I was there with. Hence I suffered in silence, contemplating myriad other (more fulfilling) ways I could have spent that time.

It was a complete and utter waste of time. If that was "entertainment", it was the lower form of entertainment ever, aiming for the lowest common denominator - the taste buds of a 5-year old. Colors and
sounds and facial expressions and luuuuv and stuff.

I really should shut up now, for I really don't wish to offend those of us who have actually enjoyed Moulin Rouge :-)

I agree with you re Eyes Wide Shut. I found particularly irritating theeee waaaaay Niiiiiicooooole aaaaaaand Tooooooom taaaaaaalked, which was like idiots speaking for idiots. God. Kubrick must have been really senile in his last days. To have come to THAT from 2001....

Ah yes
Eyes Wide Shut sucked big time

I too resisted seeing Moulin Rouge- and didn't like it that much the first time. But by the second time, when I started putting together all the jokes (musical and otherwise) I found I really liked it. I think it is pop art- as much as Andy Warhol- and I enjoy Moulin Rouge a lot more than I enjoy Warhol. I still think the cinematography was very good- it reminded me of City of Lost Children- not as good as that - since that is the best- but it was enough like it, that I thought it really good cinematography.
