It's the minor language which governments try to protect, so they can get the votes of the minority. French [not really french, but some abomination] in Canada, Maori in New Zealand, vowel free language in Wales [the vowels escaped to Finland a couple of centuries ago apparently] and I suppose there's some government money for Eskimoes, Innuit, Sioux and co. Mqurice [getting no government money even though I'm a minority of one - the smallest minority of all]
