Now see. These are ALL very good points. I agree right down the line on your historical perspective, and I shudder when I see Bush acting all cocky. It is disengenuous showy behavior. I think he would be better to maintain a humble yet earnest attitude when responding to challenges because that is who I think he really is.

Certainly, it is a complicated mess and there is more to it than just taking Saddam out. The regime was intrenched and there were plenty of graduates ready to step up in his place. I am no military strategist but I was protesting for several years that our presence in the ME was wrong because we were targeting the innocents by our sanctions. I was happy that we finally faced our enemy head on.
