Thanks. This makes sense. I suspect the tax environment is one would pay taxes in Canada, but at the present we get credit for these taxes as paid in the US with the current government agreements. Could be there is a system in the world that has a list of bank accounts identified by owners country of residency.

Which Canadian bank do you consider the most conservative?

What are you thinking of by "they might not be much good in a pinch". I suppose the US could try and freeze all of its citizens capital accounts around the world. If we get to this point things would realllllllly be interesting.
