THE CAR TAX WILL NOT BEGIN TO COVER THE DEFICIT AT CURRENT SPENDING LEVELS! Got it? Not to mention tens of thousands more lost jobs. You thought about what your HUGE TAX INCREASES will do? Hear the sucking sound? That's companies leaving CA for AZ, UT, NV, OR, WA, TX, .... California pays the federal government far more than we get back. Duh. CA should not get ONE CENT back from the feds. Because the feds should only cover federal expenses. The states should collect and spend the money each of them needs and wants. The federal gov't is NOT the states' banker. Either you fund education, health care and public safety or you can keep taxes low or cut them. You cut. Except cops, firemen, highway maintenance and other REALLY NECESSARY expenses. A family doesn't make it through the breadwinner's unemployment by profligacy. You tighten the belt. If you fired every teacher in this state, on average the kids could hardly be more poorly educated. The HUGE increase in spending on education since the passage of the Federal Aid To Education has really accomplished a lot, hasn't it? The spending has skyrocketed and the output has deteriorated. I defy you to produce any objective study that has shown improvement because of increased spending, particularly increasing administrators and teacher's salaries, which is usually where the greatest part of the increased funding goes. Are you aware that Utah is not far from the bottom in educational spending and not far from the top in achievement? Does this make you think maybe something other than money may be involved here? The claim that Reagan increased revenues by lowering taxes is another myth. DUH! You just shot out the underpinning of what is touted as one of JFK's greatest accomplishments- -increasing revenues by cutting taxes. So Reagan and Bush drove up deficits but now you want to blame Davis for them? Unfair. Foul! Gee, when was a Bush Governor of California? My Alzheimer's is getting REAL BAD. RR left the Governor's Mansion in 1975. Did you know that? You intend to blame the current deficits on HIM???? Why not Jerry Brown? Cut the crap. When Davis took office, CA had a multi-billion nest egg accumulated. We all know that. Now we face a HUMONGOUS deficit. But it's Reagan's fault. Right. And Republicans DO have to take responsibility for Bushie energy thieves ripping us. Did the Republicans stick the state treasury in the middle of that? Or was that Davis? Has it occurred to you your cause is hopeless and you are on the wrong side of this? Your boy is going. Get used to it.
