RE: "ZRAN GNSS SSFT EMKR ANAD ATMI"

ZRAN and GNSS are in my Yahoo portfolios. I have followed ANAD and ATMI. I am not familiar with SSFT and EMKR.

The keys to ZRAN and GNSS are competition and the possibility that their chips become commodities. I think of PC graphic chips and some of the companies that have had a lead for a while but then went under.

When I looked at ANAD, they were into gallium arsenide comm chips. They competed with TQNT and VTSS among others. I have no feel for the competitive position.

I have received ATMI's annual report for between 5 and 10 years. They are a good company, but I like semi-equips better than suppliers of consumables for the fab process. I think that equips have stronger barriers to entry and a less capital intensive and inventory intensive business model.

I would suggest that you determine the competitors in each of the major markets these stocks participate in. Then, you can decide to buy one, a basket of more than one, or none.

The biggest difference between these and my 8 is that these companies, with the possible exception of ATMI, could easily disappear in the next 5 years while my 8 are extremely unlikely to. My 8 have advantages in size, track record, and competitive position.
