<why is it a problem that the US taxpayer should get involved in?>

Kumar, I didn't mean the citizens should get involved, just that if they want to, that's fine by me and it would be a good thing. It's of course their decision.

I dare say it's worth getting involved in defeating real thugocracies because the more the merrier in the civilized world. Seriously nasty places would like to become seriously nice places [the citizens not involved in the thugocracy benefits would like to].

When things are civilized, the USA citizens could sell CDMA2000 cyberphones, cars and stuff and buy whatever the locals produce. That makes it better for everyone.

American tourists are then less likely to be attacked. Places for criminals to hide are reduced. Sources of mayhem are reduced. Neighbouring countries are less likely to suffer problems. The overall cost of civilized life goes down. There is a good case for USA citizens to usurp thugocracies.

The British Empire spread civilization around the world and now the American Empire is doing the same. Which is ironic since the USA raves on about 4 July.
