It's ridiculous now to believe any hogwash that the Republicans want to reduce the size of government. Pure hogwash. The Dept of Homeland security is a monstrous new Department just created by the Republicans. And it's totally unnecessary. The CIA, FBI, and military intelligence could protect us if they were just allowed to do their jobs. Not blocked from higher up for no apparent reasons. There's a huge conspiracy but nobody wants to believe it.

The deficits are a big boon to Bush's banker friends who create the new money and make money in the process.

Agreed. The Bushies are deliberately bankrupting the federal government so they can have an excuse to "reform" (another word for slash) Social Security, Medicare, public educaiton and federal regulation agencies. Of course they'll fight for more and more military. But the militry increases are only necessary so long as they start unilateral pre-emptive wars and nation-build all over the planet. Exactly what Bush said he WOULDN'T do in the 2000 debates. In other words, one more lie. And a big one. Costing hundreds of billions which we could otherwise use for domestic programs.
