i'm pretty good at spotting innovation emerging

Don't know how good I am at spotting political trends early, but I've already christened Dean, as the 2004 wild card. At this juncture, statements about who can beat who, are premature. If Dean can continue to position himself, such that subsequent events verify his positions, while others have to modify theirs, then his popularity will only grow.

Given the front-end loaded nature of the primary season, early victories are crucial. Can Dean survive S. Carolina?

Actually, I think Dean is probably the best of the Dem candidates in terms of honesty and integrity.....but I think his temper and brusque manner will do him in with the public....

Dean's grassroots movement in similar to others in the past. It is mainly made up of angry anti-establishment more left-wing democrats who were against the war. I have no beef with these Dean supporters. But I picked Kerry because I know you cannot win a national election with an angry leftist message. The GOP will rip Dean apart if he's nominated. All they have to do is refer to his quote that someday American may not be a #1 power, or that he doesn't know how many people we have in the military. That would result in the Dukakisization of Dean immediately and he'd be lucky to win 5-6 states in the general election.

Kerry on the other hand is almost as liberal, but since he's a Silver Star winner who took bullets, killed enemy, still shoots and pilots planes etc, as well as beign a vets rights champion, he has the power to make Bush look like a military midget. Bush after all went AWOL back in the 70's while John was in combat on the mekong.

p-

pierre trudeau swept to power in canada
in 1968 starting at the grassroots
level - he wasn't even a "politician"
in the normal sense. he was more of
an intellectual - an academic. and
he stayed in power until 1979 i believe.
he was/is a canadian political giant.

who knows, a grassroots movement might
take hold in the united states too.
then watch out ....
