While this is a short version that uninformed people might interpret as you say, the reality is that we can't tell to what extent the tax cuts helped.

That and 10c won't buy you a cup of coffee. Few will rationalize as you did, not even his supporters. Bush sold the tax cuts on job creation and economic stimulus. So far no good on either. End of story. No fancy rationalization required.
