The Terrance Wilkinson story at Capital Hill Blue has all the earmarks of a very hasty cover-up being carried out by White House operatives. CHB editor Thompson's retraction has all the hallmarks of a "confession" letter from a man who has a gun pointed at his temple, figuratively speaking. Perhaps he's responding to a call from the White House that he'd be financially ruined if he didn't retract? Would the White House stoop to intimidation? In a New York minute.

OTOH, I spent some time on a Google search for Wilkinson and came up with nothing much at all. Google didn't locate the CHB or Truthout articles, it linked to the Japan Today site which proved to be an Alice-In-Wonderland treasure hunt. These are the days when Orwell could be proud of his predictions.

For truly, today "War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength."

Of course, it is the ignorance of the press and the public that gives Bush such strength.
